Root Chakra Grid (catching up series) - 03/05/2019

Reiki Grid - coping with low back pain I began collecting hearts just a few weeks before assembling this mini grid.  This red jasper with hematite is the first of my hearts for the chakras.  Red jasper is a grounding root chakra stone, and the inclusion of hematite enhances its healing properties.  I read that hematite is known for healing pain because it encourages balance in nerve impulses and healthy blood flow.  It is also good for muscle cramps and spine pain.  Aside from all that, it is beautiful to look at and it feels nice in the hand.  It has a deep and soothing energy. At the time my back was acting up with a nice case of muscle spasms low on the spine.  Once again I had to plod through the usual course of muscle relaxers and list of exercises to do twice daily and I wanted to get it over with, so I incorporated root chakra meditation and this grid to assist with Reiki.   In addition to the red jasper with hematite heart are those faithful rhodochrosite chips, Himalayan quart

Beach Grid (catching up series) - 10/19/2018

The collection grows piece by piece!  I was motivated to make this grid while walking at the beach on a beautiful October day.   Near a small fishing pier another grid fan left a little design made of beach stones and broken shell pieces.  I liked the naturalness of it, and smiled at the impromptu pleasure it had generated for the builder.  I wonder what the artist thought as he or she walked away (I'm pretty sure it was a she, and of a young age).   While continuing my walk I stopped to collect a few weathered beach rocks, shells, some beach rose petals and two gull feathers.  Here is the result.  I had recently acquired the amethyst cones, and at the top is a Himalayan quartz.  From my original collection, once again the two peridot chips, the green calcite and the rhodocrosite chips are featured. The background is a table place mat. I had no strong intentions for this grid other than to commemorate a walk at the shore on a beautiful autumn day.  I can feel the breeze and smell t

My First Crystal Grid (catching up series) - 10/13/2018

As the year draws toward closure I'm feeling the urge to get all of my grids documented before losing track of them.   Here is the very first, tiny but energetic.   I had recently finished my Usui Reiki Advanced Training immersion weekend during which we had a sub-course in crystal healing.  My teacher Heidi brought some of her large collection and explained various crystal properties and energies.  We moved on to assemble our first healing grid and charged it with Reiki.  It was a powerful experience to be in one room cracking with energy from all of our meditations; Reiki flowing among us, and the gentle energy hum of the crystals.  Building the grid together and charging it while chanting with Heidi was a profound experience. I wanted to get started at home right away, but had no more than a pendulum and a few meditation crystals.  My niece Liz and I visited Mystical Horizons and had a nice browse-around.  My goals were to find a small base and some stones to help me deal with t
