The Power of Affirmations

Image
Introduction Like many of us with a meditation practice I have heard about affirmations and how they can be lifechanging.  I was introduced to the concept about 10 years ago by an acupuncturist who was treating my arthritis.  She is a holistic doctor who taught me that treating the mind and spirit is just as is important as treating the physical body, if not more.  She suggested I read up on Louise Hay , a popular motivational writer and the New Age guru of positive affirmations.   I signed her book, Heal Your Body , out of the library.  It did not float me, to be honest, but it opened a new line of thinking. As time went by the concept of setting affirmations would crop up here and there, but never really gelled until I discovered yogini Kassandra Reinhardt via her YouTube channel, Yoga with Kassandra .  Kassandra offers a lot of yin practices on her channel and is fond of incorporating positive affirmations.  With this gentle introduction, while...

A Message of Comfort - The High Priestess

Image
The High Priestess I blogged recently about the almost complete breakdown of my spirituality .   It has dimmed my Reiki connection and I hadn’t touched my crystals since putting away the memorial grid for my sister’s death.   There are reasons I know, and I'm sure there are reasons cloaked up inside, but in any event I felt a discomfort or a dead zone when I attempted to tune in and open up.   I reached out to a crystal grid makers group I belong to and asked for a pep talk and some nudges in the right direction.   I got a lot of good advice, including a suggestion to do some chakra clearing meditations since blocked and imbalanced chakras are likely factors contributing to my malaise.   A gentleman reminded me that everything is cyclical, and suggested that I'm going through "a winter of my spirituality."  I was an a-HA concept to ponder, it gives hope.  A very kind woman recommended that I follow this  soothing chakra heali...

The Wisdom of the Hermit

Image
THE WISDOM OF THE HERMIT I’ve had a situation at work.   Nothing terribly serious -- one of those nagging issues that cropped up a few months ago, gets pushed aside, but every so often it pokes its devilish head out from behind doors.   You could call it a procedural flub, a situation that hasn’t completed its Point A to Point Z transition but got stuck bouncing between Points K and L.   While it vibrated silently in a corner it kept gathering frustration, like a tick that’s been lodged behind a knee and suddenly it is revealed in its glory, sucking up energy.   A meeting was arranged with the boss to finally pull the tick out and expose its underbelly.   I meditated last night and asked for some guidance and a sign on how the meeting would go.   During meditation I asked my mind to retreat from defensive, fight or flight thoughts.   Then  I shuffled the deck and pulled ... The Hermit This is my third card-of-the-day pull...

Impasse

A Message From the Universe: Lay Down Your Weapons I have long wanted to learn tarot card reading.  A suggestion for beginners is to draw a single card of the day so that you gradually become familiar with each of the cards.  Today I drew the Two of Swords.  According to The Complete Book of Tarot  by Juliet Sharman-Burke (1985), the Two of Swords means: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A blindfolded woman is seated at the water's edge, holding two swords in perfect balance.  The blindfold indicates that she cannot see her way through her present situation, so she steadfastly ignores the sea of her emotions and the jagged rocks of hard facts behind her.  The swords ... are well balanced for the moment, but she is in a precarious situation.  This is the card of the stalemate ... the conflict has reached an impasse.  She is so unsure of which way to turn or move that she does nothing at all except try to ignore it....  However, with courage...
