Pelham Grayson Haul! 09-05-2019

Image
CRYSTAL HAUL SEPTEMBER 2019 I haven't visited the Pelham Grayson warehouse since Christmas of 2018.  Pelham Grayson  is a wholesale distributor of crystals, minerals and new age metaphysical products.  How fortunate am I that the warehouse is located not far from where I work?  And with a business card, you can get 40 or 50% off your purchase.   There are treasures galore at P-G - flats of crystals, tables of large specimens, spheres, hearts, clusters, wands and more.  It is bare bones shopping with narrow aisles, and shopping is sort of "on your own," but you never know what you might bump into.   I've been needing a new celestite since mine shattered last month (bottom of photo) and some points for gridding.  A few small items jumped into my basket, too.   At top from left to right are two adorable rose quartz Ganesha crystals, a  small banded clear quartz heart and a moss agate heart.  Second row from left to right are two points each of  Columbian &quo

A Message From the Universe: Lay Down Your Weapons I have long wanted to learn tarot card reading.  A suggestion for beginners is to draw a single card of the day so that you gradually become familiar with each of the cards.  Today I drew the Two of Swords.  According to The Complete Book of Tarot  by Juliet Sharman-Burke (1985), the Two of Swords means: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A blindfolded woman is seated at the water's edge, holding two swords in perfect balance.  The blindfold indicates that she cannot see her way through her present situation, so she steadfastly ignores the sea of her emotions and the jagged rocks of hard facts behind her.  The swords ... are well balanced for the moment, but she is in a precarious situation.  This is the card of the stalemate ... the conflict has reached an impasse.  She is so unsure of which way to turn or move that she does nothing at all except try to ignore it....  However, with courage a change can be made, and often good comes o

A Grid for Healing Generational Trauma

A Grid for Healing Generational Trauma This healing grid is inspired by my friend “M” who is working with an expert to resolve genetic memories passed on through her family's heritage.  She updates me on her progress, looking back into her own memories while exploring ancestral traumas and how they have contributed to the woman she is.  She writes periodically as she peels back layers with talk therapy, dream interpretation, and rituals such as creating a photo collage, meditating upon it and burning it. What is genetic memory?   It is the concept that the DNA we are born with contains the suffering, fears, habits and strengths of our ancestors, along with eye color and bone structure.  For example, a person may be born with innate phobias, tendencies toward addictive behaviors, or a “factory installed” calling to be a nurse, scientist, or dancer. M is an African American woman with fortitude and intelligence.  She is introspective yet candid when the truth needs to be state

Viniyoga Introductory Class

Image
image from www.viniyoga.com Saturday, 09/07/19 was my first experience with Viniyoga.  I've heard of Viniyoga and it's "father," Gary Kraftsow, but knew nothing other than that some consider it to be a therapeutic, perhaps clinical (ahem, dry) type of practice.  I can no longer enjoy vinyasa yoga and focus these days on non-flow hatha, yin, restorative and Kundalini. When I learned that the local studio has a new Viniyoga teacher I reached out to her.  She assured me it is not a vinyasa type class, so I went to investigate it on Saturday. What sets Viniyoga apart?  Some of the cornerstone principles, according to  www.viniyoga.com   are "function over form," "breath and adaptation" and "repetition and stay."  At the introductory workshop our teacher, Gretchen, had some sheets up on an easel showing the lineage of Viniyoga.  The term isn't new - Viniyoga is mentioned in the Yoga Sutras.  At right is a little info about the li

A Grid for Bone Health

Image
Intention: A Bone Health Grid (June, 2019) There comes a time in many women's lives when you have to look deep inside;  not at your heart's dreams or your life's plan, but at the miraculous porous white stuff - bone tissue - that's been holding you up all these years.  If you're a white woman of Celtic descent, with a desk job, whose ancestors survived the Great Hunger and emigration to the tenements in NYC, you will have extra concerns about staying upright for the rest of your time on Earth. White with pink calcite specimen In addition to working on all the right practical ways to support my porous white stuff (calcium, Vit. D, exercise etc.) I add a daily Reiki prayer and was inspired to make a bone health grid.  I asked around and compiled a list of bone health stones.  I found this bizarre specimen of white with pink calcite at  Wild Woman Rock and Gem 's Etsy store.  It's shaped like a vertebrae!  On my first search for a calcite t
