My First Crystal Grid (catching up series) - 10/13/2018

Image
As the year draws toward closure I'm feeling the urge to get all of my grids documented before losing track of them.   Here is the very first, tiny but energetic.   I had recently finished my Usui Reiki Advanced Training immersion weekend during which we had a sub-course in crystal healing.  My teacher Heidi brought some of her large collection and explained various crystal properties and energies.  We moved on to assemble our first healing grid and charged it with Reiki.  It was a powerful experience to be in one room cracking with energy from all of our meditations; Reiki flowing among us, and the gentle energy hum of the crystals.  Building the grid together and charging it while chanting with Heidi was a profound experience. I wanted to get started at home right away, but had no more than a pendulum and a few meditation crystals.  My niece Liz and I visited Mystical Horizons and had a nice browse-around.  My goals were to find a smal...

Hallowed Eve - The Raven

Image
Welcome Hallowe'en! At this time Irish Celts celebrated Samhain, the end of summer and ushering in of the dark days. It is said that the veil between Earth and the spirit realm is thin during Samhain, permitting spirits to travel with ease between the two. As the Irish were converted to Catholicism, Pope Gregory designated November 1 as All Saints Day to thwart the observance of Samhain. I learned in Catholic School that Hallowe'en is derived from All Hallowed Eve, the day before the Christian holy day of saints. Pope Gregory realigned all of the Christian holy days with the pagan festivals in his quest to stamp them out, but fortunately many of the ancient rituals have carried forward in a lighthearted manner for us to enjoy. The base of this grid is the Celtic Triple Crescent Moon . In the Wiccan belief, the three moons represent the stages of womanhood: maiden, mother and crone.   From the Celtic point of view, the three moons represent the Fates: birth, life and death...

A Message From the Universe: Lay Down Your Weapons I have long wanted to learn tarot card reading.  A suggestion for beginners is to draw a single card of the day so that you gradually become familiar with each of the cards.  Today I drew the Two of Swords.  According to The Complete Book of Tarot  by Juliet Sharman-Burke (1985), the Two of Swords means: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A blindfolded woman is seated at the water's edge, holding two swords in perfect balance.  The blindfold indicates that she cannot see her way through her present situation, so she steadfastly ignores the sea of her emotions and the jagged rocks of hard facts behind her.  The swords ... are well balanced for the moment, but she is in a precarious situation.  This is the card of the stalemate ... the conflict has reached an impasse.  She is so unsure of which way to turn or move that she does nothing at all except try to ignore it....  However, with courage...

A Grid for Bone Health

Image
Intention: A Bone Health Grid (June, 2019) There comes a time in many women's lives when you have to look deep inside;  not at your heart's dreams or your life's plan, but at the miraculous porous white stuff - bone tissue - that's been holding you up all these years.  If you're a white woman of Celtic descent, with a desk job, whose ancestors survived the Great Hunger and emigration to the tenements in NYC, you will have extra concerns about staying upright for the rest of your time on Earth. White with pink calcite specimen In addition to working on all the right practical ways to support my porous white stuff (calcium, Vit. D, exercise etc.) I add a daily Reiki prayer and was inspired to make a bone health grid.  I asked around and compiled a list of bone health stones.  I found this bizarre specimen of white with pink calcite at  Wild Woman Rock and Gem 's Etsy store.  It's shaped like a vertebrae!  On my first search for a cal...

A grid for surgical recovery (January 2019)

Foot Surgery Grid At the helm of 2019 I had foot surgery and supplemented traditional/western medicine with therapeutic energy.  I was still a little skeptical of distance Reiki, but my beautiful celestite cluster was transforming those hesitations.  When I meditated with celestite, my plodding earth-bound Taurus constitution suddenly felt light and connected with the universe.  My mind sensed clear blue sky and fresh breezes, and my heart opened.  This first celestite crystal gave me the channel to access energy outside my aura. Where we fell in love - Mystical Horizons Settling in at home with Celestite It's funny how things happen like that.  Late in the fall of 2018 I came upon this beautiful piece, and the month before my surgery Reiki Magazine featured an article written by a woman who used Reiki for her foot surgery.  Well!  In advance of the surgery she sent Reiki to the operating room, to the doctor and to the att...
